Trespasses

Billboard Art Project, Sight and Sound Collaboration

In collaboration with Claire Accardo

Richmond, VA.

2012

Trespasses is a collaborative public work, created by Claire Accardo and Jennifer Zaylea (formerly Rarick), for electronice billboards and radio transmission. This work was facilitated by The Billboard Art Project.

Trespasses addresses the inequity between the "high gloss" billboard and the lack of concern for the land on which it is erected.

Using found images and sounds from the billboard loacation, the piece shows a descent from the polished media to a degraded and overgrown landscape; ultimately representing nature's true beauty.

While individual elements used might not be considered beautiful in their original context, once they have been isolated and recontextualized, they work together to create an aesthetically pleasing progression of sound and imagery.

This video is a product of the collaborative efforts of artists Claire Accardo (visual) and Jennifer Rarick (sound) and was broadcast during the 2012 Richmond Billboard Art Project.
